All-Star Weekend

2017 NBA All-Star

The NBA’s All-Star weekend is a huge hit throughout the country. I wouldn’t say like the super bowl but people still love it. This year the 2017 All-Star weekend is going to be help in New Orleans on the weekend of February 17th through the 19th. The events were first supposed to be held in Charlotte but because of controversy over gender rights they moved it to New Orleans. For those who don’t know the All-Star weekend is a weekend full of events including the All-Star game, rookie vs sophomore game, celebrity game, the skills challenge, the three point contest, and finally the dunk contest. The rookie vs sophomore game is a game against the leagues best 1st year players vs the leagues best 2nd year players. The celebrity game is a game they play each year with the some of the countries hottest celebrities right now. Its pretty fun to watch. The skills challenge is a course more of the point guards participate in where they run through obstacles of basketball like situations to see who can get the best time. The 3 point contest is a contest where about five players all shoot the same amount of threes from the same spots and whoever makes the most in is the winner. The dunk contest is one of the more hype parts of All-Star weekend. Its when the leagues top dunkers do there best dunks in front of a panel of judges. They then get rated on a scale and qualify for the next round. when its all said and done there is one person crowned as the best dunker.

Here is a little clip from the 2016 dunk contest:

The most popular part of All Star weekend is the All-Star game. This is where the leagues top performers get voted to play on there conferences “All-Star” team. Its a pretty big honor. The two teams are divided into East and West. For the Western Conference starters the Warriors Steph Curry and Kevin Durant will be joined by Pelicans player Anthony Davis, Houston Rockets guard James Harden, and the San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard. I beleive the Thunders Russel Westbrook should be starting in front of Curry but that didnt happen. For the Eastern Conference the starters are Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, Lebron James, Demar DeRozan, & Milwaukee Giannis Antetokounmpo, aka the Greek Freak. The All-Star Weekend is a unforgettable weekend that you will not want to miss.

NBA Teams Worst to Best

NBA power rankings change vigorously throughout the season. This week on my blog I will be talking the NBA’s Best teams from Worst to Best. Everyone has an opinion on who they think is the leagues best/worst team, but these are this weeks concrete standings. Coming in at 30th in the league, the Brooklyn Nets are the worst team in the NBA loosing eleven consecutive games coming into this week. The Lakers coming at 29th in the league and it probably has something to do with going 6-22 since Dec 1. The Sacramento Kings are ranked at 28th overall and the Orlando Magic are ranked 27th. Coming in at 26th are the New York Knicks. They got some new players this season but they have not been playing up to par. The Dallas Mavericks are posted at the 25th mark because of the superior play of Seth Curry lately. At 24th is the Miami Heat not doing so hot. This could be because of the loss of Dwayne wade over the off season. The Phoenix Sons are ranked at 23th and Devin Booker has been playing great dropping more than 20+ points in the last 11 games. The 22nd worst team in the NBA is the Pelicans which you could expect because even though they have Anthony Davis they don’t have much build around him. The Trail Blazers take the 21st spot which is kind of surprising because of there outstanding front court. The 20th worst team in the league is surprisingly the Chicago Bulls because they have some great players but are not doing much to utilize them. This is the NBA’s top 10 worst teams weather you agree or not.

The average teams around the league obviously are ranked 19th through 11th as followed:

19) Detroit Pistons

18) Milwaukee Bucks

17) Minnesota Timber-wolves

16) Denver Nuggets

15) Philadelphia 76ers

14) Indiana Pacers

13) Charlotte Hornets

12) Oklahoma City Thunder

11) LA Clippers

Once again we all have our own opinions but right now these are your top 10 NBA teams.

Coming in at the 10th spot in the league are the Memphis Grizzlies. No surprise they are in the top 10 because they are always someone to watch out for year after year. A big surprise coming in at number 9 are the Washington Wizards. They deserve it for having one of the best back courts in the league. At the 8th spot is the Toronto Raptors even though they just took a loss. The Boston Celtics are surprisingly in the 7th spot thanks to the spectacular play from Isiah Thomas. The 6th ranked team in the NBA is the Atlanta Hawks. They acquired Dwight Howard which has been a good help. At number 5 we have the Utah Jazz which is a huge surprise! 4th in the league we have the Rockets. Of course with James Harden there’s know question. Finally, the top 3 teams in the NBA are as followed:

3) Cleveland Cavaliers

2) San Antonio Spurs

1) Golden State Warriors
